Volunteer Program
The Brainshark Employee Volunteer Program is one of our most effective and wide-reaching efforts in community service.
Each employee is given an additional day off per year, which they can use to donate their time to a charity of their choice. To supplement each employee's volunteer efforts, Brainshark also makes a $100 donation to that charity. In order to qualify for this day, the employee must volunteer at a 501(c)(3) non-profit or another pre-approved organization or cause.
SharkAngels
Each year since 2000, a dedicated group of Brainshark employees have contributed to a local charity called Project Just Because, Inc., which brings gifts and necessities to children of all ages.
Brainshark employees (“SharkAngels”) sponsor under-privileged children by purchasing gifts during the holiday season. Each SharkAngel has the opportunity to shop from the child's very own “wish list,” and deliver the gifts to Project Just Because to be distributed during the holidays. Since 2000, the SharkAngels have sponsored 841 children, and granted over 2,500 wishes.
SharkAngels also participate in a similar sponsorship program at the beginning of each school year by donating new school supplies for children in need. Local schools provide lists of necessary materials for our employees to purchase on their behalf.
Environmental Impact
Brainshark has independently worked with ICF International, a leading international consulting firm, to investigate the impact our product has on the environment. They produced a Product Carbon Footprint report and we were pleased to find that a total product footprint per Brainshark presentation viewed is 64 grams of CO2-equivalent, which is just about half of a web-conference emission and less than 1/600th of a typical in-person meeting that one would drive to.
At Brainshark, we’re proud to offer an environmentally friendly method of communicating, and we continuously strive to make it even “greener”!
We also seek to minimize our carbon footprint at our physical headquarters location. The two buildings that Brainshark currently occupies in Waltham, MA have both been Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified. This certification requires third-party verification and ensures that minimizing negative environmental impact is a priority since the design stage of a building or home.
